Leader Music Review

The combination of Mickey J Meyer and Shekhar Kammula returns with their second film LEADER.most awaited since it marks the debut of D.Rana in the lead role and this being Shekar's 4th film.his previous three films were box office hits...and musical hits too..their prevoius combo being Happy Days was a big musical hit...so expectations riding on the audio to be a hit!so lets c if their combo delivers yet again..!!
1)MAA TELUGU TALLI KI-this is the first track in the album...dis ones an old song sung by late Sri Tanguturi Surya Kumari garu..wel da difference is dat da vocals have been fitted wid the background being composed by Mickey..the song starts off with da chorus which is pretty haunting...and a piano solo being looped in the background which syncs wid the Rhythm or pretty much makes da rhythm...pretty good til now..he fuses E major wid a carnatic raaga...dis is unheard off in recent times as no one has dared to do dat apart from Maestro Ilayaraaja which is a common thing for him...the song is more likely to be used as a background score... very impressive work from Mickey..
2)Aunana-this one has vocals from Naresh Iyer and Shweta Pandit.it sounds very much similar to the song in Kotha Bangarulokam composed by Mickey.it takes off da flavour only coz of the similarity..Great lyrics by Sri Veturi garu as usual..Shweta pandit is amazing in the song..the song has normal beats..nothing extra ordinary..but has a good feel..will be a hit with da youngsters!again impressive!
3)Vandemataram-the pick of the album for me!!has gr8 vocals from Nakash Aziz..sounds more like Rahman..but very much impressive!the song sounds with synth sounds and then beats ...the patriotic feel in the song is amazing!with heavy piano chords complementing the vocals the feel increases more...not much electronic sounds used except for the synth sound which has been put in a loop..Mickey sure does know how to capture that patriotic feeling by not using many electronic sounds..:)keeps it simple with a simple progression in the D major. another plus point is the lyrics by Veturi garu...and the sky high vocals keep the feel going..Great goin Mickey!!
4)Rajashekara-Shweta pandit does a great job in this so called 'item' song..she sounds more like shreya goshal with that playful voice..this song has a flavour of old songs..he uses the harmonica on the keyboard..the song picks up tempo in the ending...shud be more a treat to watch:P
5)Hey CM- this song stands out in the album for the jazz feel it has...very daring to use them in Indian cinema music..use of live drums is evident..this trend is picking up nowadays!a playful tune with a good bass works, horns, piano and gr8 vocals!whats disappointing is less usage of the bass guitar considering its jazz song...could have been better considering his past track record..
6)Leader Instrumental-this is the instrumental version of the first track which is again very haunting!the instrumental which is used is the Shehnai..amazing work on the shehnai!!he matches the Indian instrument by using the guitar for chords!fusion at its best!to even get the chords for an Indian raaga and then play it with a guitar is unthinkable which mickey has done!hats off to him!!
totally good work from Mickey!sure to be a hit with the audience!Cant think where he could have been better...Great work from Veturi garu..hes a living legend!Surely Mickey is goin to go places with works like this!!
